Frankenstein Encore Screenings.
I follow NTLive on Facebook & their update for this morning was an announcement that there are going to be encore screenings of Frankenstein this summer!

No more details available yet, that I can find but hooray! Loved the play when I saw it, but never got the chance to see JLM's Frankenstein & Benedict's creature.

Hope this has cheered your Wednesday up!

P.S. tried to tag, but I'm posting from my phone, sorry!

Oh, for someone to smuggle in a camcorder...

That's great news. I wonder though is this because they cancelled the DVD plans that were always tentative a best, or because the DVD is finally going ahead and they want to hype up the interest first?

Someone on Twitter that said that there was a rights dispute going on with the play (I'm assuming over who would get what from profits from the dvd) and because of that, if there is one, it would be a bit longer before we'll get it in our grubby little hands.

I think the timing probably has more to do with it being a year since the play was done, and it was a HUGE moneymaker for them, and Benedict's popularity is HUGE now. Smart decision, I think.

I would *love* to see the play again, but in Italy we don't have frakking NTL. ç_ç

Awesome!

I would love to see the two screenings again, and NTL now has screenings in my local theatre so I don't have to go out of town this time!

Funny how that works, eh? My local theaters started NTL screenings not long after Frankenstein, too. Wish it would've been before... drove to 2 different states for 3 different screenings. Spent ten times as much money for gas than I spent for tickets.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this encore run to be international again!

I really really hope the screening are international. There's one theater in my country that actually screens NT live, but I became aware of Sherlock way after the play was done.

FANtastic! Thanks for the post. I was fortunate enough to see both screenings, but I will DEFINITELY see the shows again. And perhaps I can convince several friends to accompany me this time. They kinda shrugged the moment they heard the word Frankenstein.

Moroffs! ;)

Oh, and BTW, Benedict's Creature was heartbreaking (and frightening at the same time).

Hello!

The following is from the NT Press release dated 25 January. It is a MS Word document on the NT website.

"The third season of live cinema broadcasts from the National’s stages, NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE, is now reaching over 130 UK cinemas and 600 more abroad, sponsored by Aviva. Future screenings will include TRAVELLING LIGHT on 9 February 2012; THE COMEDY OF ERRORS on 1 March; and SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER on 29 March; encore screenings of FRANKENSTEIN this spring; and, in the autumn, TIMON OF ATHENS and THE LAST OF THE HAUSSMANS."
